About Us

ABO Haven Inc. is a premier provider of education, training, and job-readiness delivery systems that are designed for populations who may be unemployed or underemployed. The organization has evolved from the core employment training unit of a local community economic development corporation to a model of Nonprofit Social Enterprise (NSE), which supports workforce development in the Greater Philadelphia Region. Each of the four operating divisions of ABO Haven is charged with diversifying operating revenues through earned income strategies, while maintaining the spirit and intent of our social purpose mission.

Our approach to the market is centered on meeting the workforce demands of the 21st Century Economy. We create value for clients by establishing performance benchmarks which measure our capacity to understand the culture of our clients and tailor curriculum for students to meet the technical standards and organizational expectations of our client's workplace environment."
There may be any number of reasons why there is a fit between your needs and our service offering. Here are some of the more salient points we would like to highlight.

Staff - ABO Haven's experienced and qualified staff is committed to delivering high quality education and training for our clients. For almost a decade, there has been no turnover of ABO Haven's core group of educators; they are dedicated to excellence in the classroom and have the capacity to share their enthusiasm for acquiring technical skills and understanding nuances of the workplace.

History - On June 26, 2003, a conditional offer was made to Argo L. Simpkins, President & CEO of ABO Haven, Inc., to assume job-training operations and the CBC Career Institute. The condition was that the entire transaction must be consummated in less than two working days. ABO haven accepted the challenge. All sixteen fulltime employees were retained at full salary, and the facilities, equipment, and existing obligations were transferred, thus allowing ABO Haven Inc. to embark on its' current mission.

The organization has experienced several important milestones as it continues to move forward. Among the more notable accomplishments has been to begin building on the core competency of the organization which is to develop curriculum-based delivery systems for education, training, and job readiness; each an essential support for economic growth and development of the Greater Philadelphia Region. This process of reinventing ABO Haven, Inc. has included:

§ Gaining approval from the State Board of Private Licensed Schools to operate our for-profit school under the name of Romulus Enterprises, LLC.
§ Leasing an 8,500 square foot facility located at 1010 Spring Garden (adjacent to Center City, Philadelphia) to house the Center for Nontraditional Early Learning & Child Care (CNELCC), which opened November 21, 2005.
§ A direct marketing campaign designed to meet the demand of corporate clients for job-readiness processes tailored to the specific needs of a firm's culture and operations.
§ Implementation of operating divisions and venture planning processes to identify market driven, earned income strategies which create wealth in support of the parent organizations' social purpose mission.

Accomplishments to date can be attributed to entering into strategic alliances with elected officials, foundations, members of the academic community, and private sector firms. ABO Haven, Inc. plans to continue incorporating best practices and developing value-added partnerships in effort to grow its business and succeeds in its mission.
